Jim Sarbh Reveals How He Beat Anushka Sharma to Be the Most Annoying Character in Sanju

Jim Sarbh might possibly be the most hardworking actor in Bollywood right now. After making his debut in Neerja, the actor shows no sign of stopping, or letting other actors play any meaty roles “I try and give a 100% to every role and that shows. If I’m playing the role of a madman, I WILL cut up a kitten. That’s just who I am,” says Jim.

His dedication to the craft was showcased once again in the much-talked about Sanju, starring Ranbir Kapoor and a generous dose of toxic masculinity, where Jim played the role of a creepy, drug-peddler.

“I have several problems with the movie, but none more problematic than just how annoying Jim Sarbh’s character was,” writes a self-confessed critic on Twitter, who has no experience in movie critiquing but has a lot of opinions and a strong Internet connection.

“I find character briefs very restricting. So I develop my own character background and it came to me that I should make this character as annoying and unalienable a possible because that’s what the essence of Sanju is” says Jim.

Jim had tough competition, though, because clearly Anushka Sharma had the same idea.

“I knew I would have to work extra hard to out-cringe people with Anushka Sharma in that wig and those blue contacts, so I hired a dialect coach and worked on an accent that would make a nun curse,” he says.

He didn’t expect Anushka would come up with a pseudo-British accent too. “That was a curveball. I hope the audience sees who worked hard at being more annoying,” he said.

What do you think? Did his handwork pay off?
