The trailer for Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan starrer Thugs of Hindostan dropped recently, leading many people to instantly compare it to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

“It’s not just the fact that there are ships involved, they also have dudes with eyeliner on,” pointed out an anonymous source who we’re pretty sure was Shatrugan Sinha.

“It’s unfair to make these comparisons before you even see the film. But I will say that it can’t be more different,” said Aamir Khan at the trailer launch for the movie, “Pirates of the Caribbean series had more female representation than Thugs.”

The actor pointed out that the Johnny Depp starrer at least had people of the female kind speak in the trailer. “We have two women in the movie (Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh). They have no dialogues in the trailer. The Pirates movies actually showed women speaking. I believe that sets our movie apart, right?”

He is right though. The movie seems nothing like the Pirates of the Caribbean series now.

“I distinctly remember Keira Knightley saying some lines out loud in the movie, and even in the trailer. So I think I was mistaken in assuming that Thugs is a copy,” said a sheepish Shatrugan Sinha.

How excited are you for Pirates of Hindostan?
